When LN-CC opened its retail space in 2010, it quickly became known for its forward-thinking point of view. It’s fashion offering, for instance, unites the luxury houses alongside the most progressive emerging talent. The design of its store has been no afterthought either: housed within a former boxing gym in Dalston, east London, renowned set designer Gary Card overhauled the interiors in its early years to a suitably contemporary scheme. Twelve years on and LN-CC continues to evolve as it pushes to not just redefine modern retailing in a curated, conscious and considered way, but reimagine what a fashion destination can be (the space is currently being refurbished and is set to re-open next year).
When it came to choosing a listing to house the shoot, we knew that it would need to share the same qualities as our brands. “The design of the LN-CC store is really bold and makes for a unique experience. We knew we had to match them with something equally special,” says our Head of Brand and Editorial, Charlie Monaghan. “As soon as I saw Invisible House I knew we’d found the one. There really is nothing else like it. It’s definitely a space that needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated.”
The Invisible House is an extraordinary contemporary home in Warwickshire. It was conceived and designed by the current owner, Steve Smith, who worked alongside BPN Architects to explore reflection as an organising principle. Each room is set within an individual mirrored pavilion, raised slightly above the ground, to create the illusion of a series of floating interconnected rooms. Meanwhile, the mirrors reflect the surrounding environment, which blurs the boundary between inside and out. Similarly, the best of autumn/winter 2022 fashion delights in the dualities of fantasy and reality, revealed and hidden, every day and elevated, affirming the Invisible House as the perfect setting.
